a dream

It was nice and snug in the warm wooden cabin. The air still smelt vaguely of the burnt wood from the fireplace last night. A gentle cold breeze from a window left slightly ajar crept into my room and snatched me from my dreams. I opened my eyes. My bed whispered silently into my ear, promising more hours of rest but I knew today was a day to be defiant.

I got up, did my morning routine and then got dressed. She was in the living room, making breakfast for the two of us. She glanced out the window as I drew the curtains.

"Oh my god, Rome, it's finally snowing today!!"

"Waaa, it really is!!"

"What are you waiting for? Let's go outside!!"

I opened the door and she dashed out as if she were still a kid. I couldn't blame her, we'd never ever seen it snow before in our lives.

She danced in the snow, unaware of the cold as the transparent crystals fell from the sky. I could see the excitement in her eyes and the enchantment written all over her face. She looked so beautiful, as beautiful as she looked since the first day we met.

And I stood there at the door dumbfounded, so afraid to close my eyes for I never wanted any of it to pass me by. This magical moment in time, this place, this future memory.

I smiled to myself, there was nowhere else in the world I'd rather be.

note: i had this dream quite awhile back but never really had the mood to write it, all i remember is that i woke up smiling. though, kind of wish it could actually happen. wish you were here.
